Hiring: Photographer-in-residence
WikiTribune has a vacancy for our next “photographer-in-residence” based in London to work with the team and set our photographic look and feel.
We intend this to be a three-month appointment — with potential to roll over — for an ambitious and talented photographer. The idea is to bring in someone early in their career or who might not otherwise get an opportunity to work on a new media project like WikiTribune.
Our first photographer-in-residence was Francis Augusto who has had assignments to document stories, produce his own photography essays and work alongside feature writers to produce combined text-and-image pieces. Francis has also written a guide for the team on images for the site.
“Working at WikiTribune has been brilliant learning, with experiences and responsibilities that have fundamentally enabled me to develop. The role has so much scope to grow and be instrumental in the rise of WikiTribune and its visual position in news,” Francis said when I asked him today.
It is a position comparable to a paid internship and is currently 21-hours a week. There is some flexibility on hours depending on the experience of the successful candidate and the photographic needs of the site. It’s likely the next appointment will start from early December with a handover with Francis.
WikiTribune has a diversity statement on the site which will also be applied to the recruitment process.
