Seldom would I lead on a Daily Mail piece but this is an extraordinary piece of overreach by a fundamentally undemocratic Home Secretary can't stand. It's hard enough to report properly and to handle documents and protect sources. Most organisations don't bother trying.
Including this partly because of the journalists involved -- including the editor of the Financial Times -- but also because of the awful cynicism of Israel permitting the sale of Pegasus to Mohammed bin Salman, withdrawing it after the murder of Khashoggi, and reopening it later.
I thought there was terrific reporting in here, even if the NSO people aren't as public spirited as they might like us to believe. It is a tough area but it is clear that some serious ratbags now have Pegasus and will use it.
Exclusive: Documents suggest Russia launched secret multi-agency effort to interfere in US democracy
I am not convinced that the documents here standup. No one has been able to verify them and it is a bit of a worry. There are a couple of articles below that say their veracity doesn't really matter because we know the contention to be true. That way lies madness -- even if it's right.
I didn't know Danish but I know the people at Reuters and how they will be feeling about the latest loss of a brave colleague. It is important to understand why organisations send people like him to dangerous places: they bear witness and take risks on behalf of us all.
Georgian friends have been close to this death. I absolutely loved the image in this story of what must have been every photographer and cameraman in Tbilisi holding up their equipment in a phalanx to honour the cameraman who died after a beating by thugs.
A friend described this as "faux litigation" and it does the law firm and the guy deploying the law firm no favours. This kind of vexatious nonsense costs thousands to deal with and deserves to go nowhere. It should never have started and the law firm and the client should know better.
