In a New York Supreme Court last November, the conservative website Project Veritas launched its defamation suit against the New York Times in much the same way that Veritas’ founder, James O’Keefe, launches his viral videos—with a fusillade of accusations.
Veritas is crewed by ratbags who spread disinformation and mistrust. Defamation is almost impossible to win in the US but they will spread as much crap around as they can.

Apple built the world’s most valuable business on top of China. Now it has to answer to the Chinese government.
As publishers face up to whatever might be their next existential crisis — there are so many options from which to choose, including Substack stealing all their writers; or Clubhouse pulling in people through audio-based conversations where news and analysis intermingle seamlessly with networking — a startup that’s helping them build more tools to keep […]

On most workdays, McKenna Oxenden tries to get to bed by 1 a.m. to get a decent chunk of sleep. By 6 a.m., she’s headed to a barn in Damascus, Maryland, for chores that help offset the high costs of being a competitive horseback rider.
